Picture Day

Today we took our first professional family photo. Very exciting!! :O) Plus it was totally free! I found a coupon on coupons.com for a free session that included 1 8x10, 2 5x7, and 8 wallets. I am pretty sure I was suppose to pay for shipping (I had the same good deal with Madison's newborn pics), but the guy was new and told me it was all free. Yay!!

Crying Over Spilled Milk

So yesterday I had my first major Mommy Oops!! I just arrived and Micheal's craft store, and Madison and I were all excited to get started on our new craft project. Well, we were a few minutes delayed. I locked my purse, keys and Madison in the car. I spilled milk on the back seat and needed to get a wipe to clean it up and they were in the front seat. So I accidental closed the back door not realizing I locked the doors and my purse was in the back on the floor. Yeah! WONDERFUL! So after about a 2 second panic attack wondering what I should do. Breaking a window entered my mind. I tried to stay calm and ran in the store to call 911. The cops were there in like 2 minutes!!! I don't think I have ever panicked like that before. Madison was just looking at me and the cops smiling, and I was crying and shaking. She was fine, and I was able to still do my shopping a bit shook up. As we were heading in to the store I saw a few people gathered on the sidewalk looking at what all the commotion was and wondering why I had 2 cops just leaving my car. How embarrassing!! The cops were great, I also learned how to break into a car without leaving any damage. It is actually really easy. Also, I met a nice lady that let me borrow her cell phone to call 911, and she insisted in staying with me until the cops came. I hope something really nice happens to her really soon. Yeah, so I will not be doing that again! I need to get one of those hida keys or 2 wedges and a hanger to keep under my car.

Finished Patio!

We finally finished our patio! We saved tons by making it ourselves. Plus I got a great tan! lol! :O) It is a great little outside area to hang out and relax and have BBQ's with friends.
Before

After

How we did it!
First we measured and staked out the area where we wanted to make the patio. Then we figured out how many paver stones we needed. (We bought ours at Menard's). Next we pulled up the grass and dug up the dirt about a foot in the whole area. (You need it this deep because you need to also have room for gravel, limestone, and sand to make sure the patio is level).

We blocked off the corners so I could make a flower garden. (above)

It rained all weekend so we had a little delay!

After the dirt is removed and it was about 12in. deep, we put about 4in of coarse gravel down and then 4 in. of limestone (chips and dust) on top of the gravel. We got this at a local home and garden store. We made lots of trips with our pick up truck!
Next, we covered the area with landscaping fabric to prevent weeds from growing. Then we put 1- 2 in. of WET sand down. You MUST make sure it is level. If you don't your patio will be uneven and after all that hard work you DO NOT want that to happen! My husband used the technique below by doing small sections at a time. You can use 2x4's like the picture below. Then when you remove them you just fill in the gaps with more sand and smooth it.

Almost Done!

One of the corner flower gardens

Last step was to create our seating wall. We used adhesive to glue the seating stones and corner bricks together.

We finished off by putting flat stones on top, I forgot to take a picture, but you can see it in this picture below.

Patio Update

We planted one of the flower gardens last night.

We have our small patio set on the new patio, but we hope to get a bigger set at the end of the season when they go on sale.

More plants and vegetables we need to plant. Some of the veggies we planted aren't doing well.

The moose are going in the other flower garden.

Comedy Show!

Tomorrow we are having our first night out alone since Madison was born. I have mixed feelings. I am excited to see the show and not have to worry about a wiggly baby in my lap, but I am also sad to leave her. I know she will do fine (I put her in the YMCA daycare for 1-2 hours when JR is at work and can't watch her). Plus, I know she is in good hands with friends.

Anyway, check out the comedian we are going to go see- here in a video of him.

Mother's Day Flowers

Just wanted to share my flowers from Madison and JR. I was waiting for them to bloom before taking the picture. They are beautiful! Thank you I love them!! :O)
