Meet Alice

She will save you lots and lots of money! I have compared prices for regular everyday household items that we use and the prices are fantastic. Plus with free shipping and no tax you have nothing to lose!

You will save tons of time by not having to run to the store to get these items. If you are like me and have a list of 5 things to get and walk out of a store with 10 items, this is a sure way to make sure you don't buy unnecessary items.

Today they have a deal where you can get 30% off gifts cards, so if you spend $70 you will get a $100 gift card.

Make sure you sign up through my referral link and you will save $10.00 (located on the upper left of my blog) or click here! Alice

Favorites/ Highlights of 2009

-Going more green and recycling everything I can!

-Getting rid of clutter and things we don't need!! We had a yard sale this summer and it felt so good!! What ever didn't sell we donated to Goodwill.

-Being more conservative when I shop. Asking myself...Do I REALLY need this? If I love/ want something its something I want and not need, I put it on my "wish list." I find when I have extra spending cash, lots of times I cross it off my list because I decide I don't really want it anymore. It would of been a bad purchase, so I am glad I waited and thought about it more.

-I buy things I love. If I don't love it, I don't buy it. I don't buy stuff just because it is on sale.

-Coupons! I love coupons! Food, stores, online coupons, free shipping codes- all coupons. They are great. I am been using ebates and bing cash back and I saved tons of money. One one my favorite code sites is Retailmenot.

- Some of my favorite products that I started using this year: Jasons shampoo, conditoner, and body wash. I am trying to find products that I love that are natural and switching to them as our bath products have run out.

-Bath and body works puffs. I used to buy mind from Walmart. Theres no going back now!

-Zumba

- Belly Dancing

-Decorating- I finally know what I want and love as far as home decor. I love decorating and organizing our home. I never really had a style I loved. I am really into loving things that are teal, blue, green, bright, beachy, black and white.

- DIY I love doing it myself. From house repairs, to free wall art. It feels great and rewarding.

-Blogging! I love blogging, I started out blog for friends and family to keep up on Madison updates, but it has turned into my diary. I love looking back and I am so glad I blogged my way through the year because I am sure I would of forgotten tons!!

- Madison's 1st Birthday!

- My 27th Birthday. My husband bought be a red velvet cake. Yumm!!

- JR'S 26TH Birthday

- Madison crawling

- Madison Walking

-Celebrating 3 year wedding anniversary

- Cousin Krista got Married

- Vacations to see family in Maine and New York.

- BIL Dan returns home from over seas!

- Our Smokey Mountain Adventure vacation

- Still loving my Ugg slippers. Might be time for a new pair for both me and JR, the fur is all worn in the toes. I have had mine for at least 4 years and JR is on his 2nd pair in the last 4 years.

- New t.v shows I am hooked on: Flash Forward and V.

- This year I am working on being less shy. I am no longer scared of gym classes or meeting new people.

- Great Mommy Friends and air force wives I met here at our base.

- Cooking

- Wii

- Loving Nature and being more out doorsey

- All Done Christmas shopping, except for JR.

-Being less of a procrastinator and doing things right away.

That is all that comes to mind right now, I will post more as I remember.

I'd love to see/read your Favorites/ Highlights of this past year. Be sure to blog about yours and leave me a comment so I can check em out, or feel free to make your list right in the comment section.

Cards

To family and friends who this may concern: (those of you that are on my Christmas card list)

Christmas card are ordered! We are doing photo cards and I think they came out cute! It is very challenging to get a one year old to cooperate and sit, stay still, and smile all at the same time. We worked with what we had and the final project came out better than I thought after some cropping and designing. I think I will post it on here once you get them in the mail. I wouldn't want you to see it before.

Also, Thanksgiving cards are on the way for the grandparents! I ordered a picture to put in the card and shipping is taking forever! I should of got them printed at a local store and had it and the card mailed last week. So they should be here tomorrow and the cards in the mail on Tuesday. Better late than never I guess!

My new Niece!

Our extended family grew this past week! Welcome to the family Maggie! Ain't she cute?!

Congratulations again to proud Mommy Nikkie, great Daddy Dan, and the wonderful siblings Maria, Conner, and Tank!! :O)

Potato Rolls

I recently got an email from a friend for a recipe swap, I don't usually do those types of emails, but I decided to give it a go. I just wanted to share the recipe that I picked. This is from a lady named Bri that I met on on fashion forum. I think it is her mom's recipe. It is so yummy!! I made them for the first time last year and I am making them for Thanksgiving. Just make sure you read the instructions. I started making them last year, then I realized that you have to refrigerate them over night. So we wound up having them the next day. Then were well worth the wait and even worth the extra weight that I am sure I gained from eating so many. lol! :O)

Potato Rolls
1 package yeast
1 cup warm (not hot, not lukewarm) water
1 cup potato water (leftover water after potatoes are boiled)
1 cup mashed potato
2 eggs, well beaten
½ cup margarine, softened
¾ cups sugar
3 tsp. salt
7 cups unbleached flour
Dissolve yeast in the warm water. It’s important that the water isn’t too hot because it will kill the yeast. If the water is too cold, the yeast won’t dissolve. Gently stir the water and yeast. Add the potato water and mashed potatoes. Beat eggs and add. Beat in margarine and sugar until mixed in. Add salt to the flour and then add 1 cup at a time. Place in a large bowl (it is going to rise a lot, so make sure the bowl is big!!!) and place a towel (dish towel) lightly over the bowl. Let rise until at least double in size (usually a few hours or so is good). Punch the dough to let the air out. Grease the top lightly with Crisco and place the towel back over the bowl. Refrigerate overnight.
Grease muffin pans and flour hands so dough doesn’t stick. Roll 3 one-inch balls for each cup. Let the dough in the muffin cups rise all day, until puffed up over the top of the muffin pan.
Bake at 350˚ until done (slightly browned on top).

Bye Bye to The Oprah Winfrey Show

So sad! I used to be a regular watcher of the show, now I Tivo it and watch if it looks interesting. I love Oprah and will miss her T.V. show.

"Tomorrow, Oprah will announce live on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' that she has decided to end what is arguably one of the most popular, influential and enduring programs in television history," he wrote in the letter, obtained by Access Hollywood. " The sun will set on the 'Oprah' show as its 25th season draws to a close on September 9, 2011."
Quote from Access Hollywood

How easy does this pie look?

This has to be one of easiest looking recipes ever!

Click here to see Gina's recipe from the Shabby Chic Cottage Blog. I am going to have to try it one day!

Dear Mr Schwan Man,

Do you really think I am not ever going to go grocery shopping again? Really? You have been in my life for the past 6 or 7 months and I have bought like 4 items from you. Trust me, I know I am not your best customer. Just let me go. I am going to buy food, just not from you EVER again!!

You were sweet as pie until yesterday. Sorry you couldn't get the hint the last two times I saw you. I tryed to avoid buying food from you by saying "No thanks, not today. Maybe the next time."

Well, I have a confession. For the past month, month in a half I make sure I am not home when you are going to be knocking on my door. I purposely schedule play dates, run errands, or go grocery shopping. Yes, I said I go grocery shopping AT the GROCERY STORE! Yesterday I actually forgot all about you. Thursdays seem to be the play date day for the last few weeks. I woke up got Madison and myself ready and went on our merry way to join friends at the mall where they have a little kid play area. Then, a friend and I did a little shopping at the Children's Place and had a little lunch. After that I went grocery shopping. On my way home I realized it was your day to pay me a visit, I was going to leave you a note on the door telling you I didn't want anything today. But, I forgot. The last 3 times I haven't been home, sorry.

So I pull into my driveway and get Madison out of her car seat and carry my Turkey I just bought. Boy, was he heavy! It weighs more than Madison. Anyway, I get to the door and I see you left me a note today. This is the first time, usually you leave me catalogue and a sticker letting me know the next time you will be back.

(The note read: Call me (with his number) and BIG Ice Cream sale. So I ripped it off the door and was going to call him to end our relationship AFTER I finished unloading the car and putting the groceries away. I went out to the car, waved hi to new neighbors, went over to chat for a bit, JR just gets home from work. We bring the rest of the groceries in the house. We unpack them and I decide to clean the fringe before I put the food away.)

While I am finishing up putting the last of the food away and doing some magic to make the Turkey fit in the fridge, I see the Schwan man pull up outside my home. Aw man, you have to be kidding me. Breaking up over the phone was going to be so much easier!

So I get to the door before he can ring the door bell, my dogs are going crazy barking so I go outside and close the door most of the way shut. I really wish the dogs were out back and I was able to have the door opened and talk to him with JR being able to hear me.

Our conversation goes kinda like this:
Me: "Hi, Sorry I have missed you the past few times. My play dates seem to be on Thursdays."(me thinking hehehehe I plan them on Thursdays to avoid you!)
Schwan man: (Big Smile) " So what can I get for you today?"
Me:"Actually, I was just about to call you. I got your note. Can you please take me off your route list. I am not interested in buying any more food from you."
Schwan man: (BIG frown) "What? You mean to tell me you aren't going to but anymore groceries for your whole life? I have the best prices in town, and I give you coupons."
Me: "I actually just went grocery shopping."

Me thinking: I just bought a couple of bags of frozen broccoli for $1.00 a piece. Unless you are giving out bags of free broccoli, I think I will stick with the store.

Me "I have access to the Commissary since my husband is military and I find great deal at Mejers. I'm happy with these stores. Your food just isn't in our Budget. Plus, we have a little girl, so we have to be wise with our money."

Me thinking again: Just go away and never come back! Please!!!!

Mean Schwan man: Now worse than a used car sales man. I don't even remember what he said at this point. We is going on and on how he can't believe I am not interested in buying from him anymore.

Me thinking:
Take it like a man Mr Schwan man! I said no thank you. So just tell me to have a nice day, give me your card and tell me in the future if I change my mind to give you a call. Yes, that is how I wanted our relationship to end.

INSTEAD...... You turn your back on me throw your hands up and say in a very MEAN and RUDE tone this is what you tell me!

Mr Schwan man:
(Growling in mean voice)
"Well, I am not arguing with you! Have a nice day."

Me thinking: Arguing? Who the heck is arguing? We are just talking.
Boy, I feel bad for your wife if you are married.

Me: Standing there in shock. Whoa! Well, that didn't go like planned at all!
I wasn't expecting that. I was very angry inside. How dare he speak to me that way.

I go inside and tell JR the details. I am still mad at Mr Schwan man turned angry car sales man dude.

I was having such a great day too. I wish he could of just told me to have a nice day, he appreciated my business, gave me a card and told if I ever want anything in the future to give him a call.

You broke my heart Mr Schwan man and I will never ever be coming back to you. I hope you choke on your Thanksgiving Day turkey!!!!

On a more Happier note:
Earlier that afternoon while at the grocery store, I left a very nice comment card for a very nice gentleman. I have had 2 very pleasant encounters with this very nice old grandfather looking man. I went up to customer service and he happened to walk by, so I was able to ask them what his name was.

Last time I went to Mejers I was unloading my cart and as I was taking Madison out, he took my cart for me. I thought that was very nice.

Yesterday as I was getting out of my car, Madison in one had and my purse along with my grocery bags in the other. I look up and see the same man coming toward me with a cart and waves to Madison.

Normally I am on a mission when we go food shopping. There is a very fine line where Madison is happy baby then she turns into screaming unhappy baby get me otta hear trying to climb out of the cart ball of fun child. But, I wanted to take a second and go out of my way for this man, just like he did for me.

Thanks for making my day Steven! I hope they give you a raise soon.

Also, Mr Schwan man if you are reading this I really hope you don't choke on your Turkey. I just hope you learn some customer service and hopefully you will learn some manners. You made my day go from great to no so great in a second. But, I feel so much better now. I am glad you are out of my life.

Fisher Price Nativity Set

Today Madison and I went to Target and picked up this to display under the Christmas tree. This year we have to make the tree "baby proof". Just ribbon, bows, and the fisher price nativity set for us this year. I saw the set last year and that they were adorable. It is cute, but also a great educational toy that will make talking about Jesus easier for a toddler to understand.

Cookie Swap!!

I just wanted to share a fun little helpful holiday thing to do! :O) I just sent out an email to my girlfriends, and I am hoping to get good response. Hopefully we will be having some yummy cookies this holiday season! I hope some of my firends in blog world will join in on the fun with their own family and friends.

We did it at my old job and it was a big hit.

The way it works is once you know how many people want to swap, you make that many dozens of cookies. So if 5 people want to do it, you make 5 dozen of the same cookies. Then you each swap your dozen.

Some of you might be thinking "What the heck am I going to do with 6 or 7 dozen cookies" :O) Well, what we did at my old job is brought them into work in tins (like the ones you buy at Walmart for $1 or $2 dollars). For my swap this year, I suggested we just swap them in gallon sized ziplocks and then if you want to do the tins on your own, then you can. Then you divide all the cookies up and you have a nice assortment with out all the hard work of making different types of cookies and buying all the ingredients. You can give them to friends, family, church, your dentist office, ect.

Once I have my list of friends interested, we are going to chat on FB so not everyone makes the same cookie.

Next craft project? Maybe.

I have a lot of other projects I am working on. So this might be put on the back burner. I love this little book rack posted on Frugal Home Ideas. I think I am going to have to add it to my list.

Its been a while!

Hello Kitty Picture Time!!

I took a 15 month hello kitty picture just for kicks and boy oh boy Madison grew a ton since her last one at 12 months. We might have to stop feeding her all those green beans! LOL!
